On behalf of CEIU Ontario Regional Council, the Human Rights and Race Relations (HRRR) Representatives Bernadette D’Souza and Camar (Cece) Cameron, would like to extend our warmest well-wishes to all our members and their families who are observing the Lunar New Year. Many cultures around the world are celebrating within their communities.
Although sometimes referred to as “Chinese New Year” in the West, many people from different countries observe Lunar New Year, including, but not limited to: Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Tibet, Taiwan and Brunei.
Additionally, other countries that follow the lunisolar calendar hold their own New Year celebrations around this time. Occasionally, the date celebrated may differ by one day or even one moon cycle due to time zones and other factors.
Regardless of how you and yours observe, we encourage everyone doing so to have a safe and joyous celebration!
Yours truly,
Bernadette D'Souza & Camar (Cece) Cameron
